I don’t have a green thumb… but I really do love plants and gardening. Every spring we plant seeds, water them, and celebrate every little thing that actually grows.
For a few years we planted veggies—tomatoes, squash, green beans—but I think every tomato and green bean was eaten by Luke and Tommy before it ever made it inside. It was a lot of work for very little payoff.
This year we traded our vegetable beds for a flower cutting garden, and I don’t think we’re going back.
Now we keep our eyes peeled for blooms that are juuuuust right—ready to be carefully cut and brought inside. Nothing better than fresh flowers on the counter… especially when they were picked by two little boys who carried them in with that adorable kid pride. This painting is a reminder of those moments.
Next Spring I’m hoping to take our cutting garden to the next level. For some happiness on display around the house and also some painting inspo!
