"If a work of art makes us see something familiar in a new way... maybe then it qualifies as 'good.' [But] for anything to be good, truly good, there must be love in it." - Theo of Golden
You can probably tell by now that I don’t have a specific creative lane that I stay in. At first, I thought that was a problem, but now I kind of embrace it. Whatever sparks inspiration I run with.
After all, how cool to think that every morning there are new experiences, new adventures, new beginnings ahead to inspire.
Hi. I’m Liz, a self-taught artist.
Currently living in Charleston - by way of Canada, Connecticut, Singapore, Switzerland, back to Connecticut, Philly, and New York City. I live here in Charleston with my husband and two sweet & energetic boys.
Creativity has always been somewhere in the background of my life. My grandmother painted, art class was always a favorite, and I loved making things—but as sports, academics, a career, and eventually motherhood took center stage, art quickly took a back seat.
Then, during a family trip to the mountains in the summer of 2023, I picked up a paintbrush again.
What started as a little time to create quickly became something much bigger—a source of joy, peace, curiosity, and fun that I hadn’t realized I was missing. I haven’t put the brushes down since.
Today, between raising my boys and running my market development company, LXG Ventures, I search for whatever pockets of time I can find to paint. Nap times, late nights—once inspiration strikes, I make the time.
I don’t stay in one creative lane (which at first I thought was a problem), but now embrace and don’t feel particularly compelled to find one. I paint what catches my eye or stirs something in me: the beauty in simple ordinary moments of motherhood, places that take me down memory lane, wildflowers I notice, or abstracts that capture a feeling that may be harder to put into words.
I especially love collaborating with friends/family/people on commissioned work—turning a meaningful place, memory, or feeling into something they can live with for years to come.
Thanks for being along this journey with me and I hope that we can find a little more joy, kindness, and beauty as we slow down to create and support one another in this crazy world we live in these days.
